Quality isn’t expensive… it’s priceless!

Coldstream & the Dream Team

August 19th, 2008 - 3:43pm | by Matt Pine

Some weddings I shoot, I feel part of the family. The funny thing is, besides the bride and her father I didn’t meet anyone else until the day of on this one. But from the get-go I felt welcome. The thing I noticed first, these people had energy! I knew I was going to get some awesome footage. The wedding took place at Anderson Hills Methodist. Most of the day was at my favorite Country Club to shoot, Coldstream . Everything is first class and I love that course. Then I heard Rozzi Famous Fireworks was to make an appearance, I was like….bonus:)

The dream team of Lifetime and Steve Lyons happened again this night and I think we found a new member. Courtenay Lambert of Courtenay Lambert Florals. She blew me away with her stuff. Just watch the second shot in the clip. The floral arrangements….fantastic.

Please meet Amy and Taylor. Fun couple that God blessed not only with a beautiful day, but check out these sunset shots. You guys were awesome to work with.

The following Movie Wedding Trailer was not part of your package Amy, but it’s a gift to say thanks for letting me tell your story on 06.07.08 and for making me and the crew feel so welcome.

This is just a little teaser, I’ll be in touch within a week.
Enjoy,

“You won’t see me” (The Beatles 1965 Rubber Soul Album)

August 15th, 2008 - 7:53pm | by Matt Pine

Yes, I said album. I am a child of the ‘60-70s when the music was real and on vinyl:)

Ok guys I’m breaking the Lifetime Video blog rule here and posting a 3rd time on the same wedding. I LOVE this couple and their families. When I have a people this awesome and have the production come together this smoothly I like to share.

OK, the #1 question brides ask me; “Should I see him before the wedding?” Well I’m not going to say one way or another. I think every person’s wedding is different and some people must follow tradition. They really like to have that moment happen at the aisle. Firm belief to the point were they say
“You won’t see me”.

I’d like to introduce part one of a two part Lifetime Series defending both sides of the argument.

First up: Seeing him (more romantic)

Downside and let’s be honest, not a dramatic as waiting. You won’t get life’s most beautiful soundtrack entrance as all eyes lock on both of you as you make eye contact for the first time that day, awesome moment in time…..like one you might like to have a videographer there for?

((((Steps off soapbox for hiring videographer))))

The Upside: Time……time to spend with each other, with me and your photographer. All day to get fantastic stuff that you have forever to remember the entire day by. Time is your enemy on your wedding day, it goes by way too fast. Face it, it’s called “your wedding day”, not “your wedding late afternoon and into evening”. Seeing each other with a 3-4 hour preview let’s us be really creative.
This quick clip is again from the same wedding as the two posts below. Leah and Jordan’s wedding first glance is what you’ll see.
Notice how Jordan can’t remove his eyes off of his stunning bride Leah, this is so cool, I have the best job!
90% of the following was shot with just me, Jordan and Leah, we had TIME to do a lot. I got the moment he sees her in that dress and then I added Jordan’s awesome and touching comments he told me later.

Hey, not to be sold short part 2 of waiting until the aisle, will be much more dramatic rather than romantic. These people had the thrill in front of hundreds of others. I will have 20-25 of the most incredible and beautiful reactions you have ever seen. These golden moments in time happened very quick and I usually love to add slow motion and the real audio from the church as I cut from both their faces. I do also add the voiceover on a few which takes it up a level. Another bonus is mom and dad’s reaction too. Please stay tuned for that one in a few weeks.

What I would really like is to hear your thoughts. I LOVE comments here on the blog, I really do.
Also, ANY wedding VENDORS out there add your two cents either way on this subject. AND PLEASE ADD your link to your site as a calling card. I really want to hear from brides who are married who waited or those who didn’t…..how was it? And those getting married, are you on the fence? This series might help make your decision.

Should be fun…

enjoy,

New Shoes….

August 7th, 2008 - 9:27pm | by Matt Pine

So I’m at the Wedding Mafia 101 meeting last night at the Marriott Union Center. If you’re not attending these monthly GTG with some of THE BEST wedding vendors in Cincinnati and N. Kentucky, then you’re missing the ship. Where else can you go and talk about planning your wedding with such a wealth of knowledge in the Cincinnati wedding industry? No where. Come one time and you’ll be back every month just for the party and fun.

So I’m sitting there with my good friends Frank from Say Cheese Photo Booths and his lovely wife, the amazing and talented Stevie Z from Glass Eye Video who was celebrating his birthday ( I will not say which) and his beautiful wife. And also at the table was Steph Carson with StephCarson Photography
Stephanie, BTW is not only lovely, but also beautiful:)

The conversation turned to Blogs, which we all were telling Frank he “has to get”.

For me, having the ability to put a video online in under 10 minutes to show not only the client, but also the world is the coolest thing I have ever done. I love showing the work in PROGRESS, before we deliver. Getting people excited about what they will see soon….too cool.

The following Cocktail Party clip has two stories:

1) Always bring a different pair of shoes ( the more comfortable ones) for yourself for the reception.

2) Have your videographer shoot your cocktail party. You’ll be with your photographer finishing up last minute formal shots, This lets us show you what you missed.

Manor House in June

August 6th, 2008 - 9:59am | by Matt Pine

If there’s one venue that we have shot more than anywhere else in almost 20 years it’s Manor House. I can not think of a better place to hold an outdoor wedding. As soon as your wedding is over in their beautiful Gazebo area, you walk 30 feet to your reception. The grounds are fantastic for a photo shoot, which includes a small water fall and plenty of incredible landscaping. I love this really cool butterfly chair that have there too.

The following is the opening to Leah and Jordan’s wedding which took place there Friday, June 6, 2008. You guys made my job so easy, I never had to ask them to smile, it just happened.
The legendary Ron Carroll and his partner in crime Allen from Ron Carroll Photography were wonderful to work with that evening.

BTW, my favorite shot has to be the little flower girl looking at herself in the mirror unaware of our camera….absolutely priceless.

To Leah and Jordan: I’m hoping to put the finishing touches on this production by Friday, I will call you:)

enjoy,

Ashley’s Dream……

August 3rd, 2008 - 4:23pm | by Matt Pine

I learn so much from creative people. Opening up my ears to anything and everything that they say. Right before Ashley walked down the isle, Tine Hofmann of tmphotography ( a very creative person) commented on the fact that if left open, those back doors of St. Francis deSales would have the effect like she and her father were “walking out of a cloud…..almost like a dream”.

I actually started working on this Movie Trailer the very next morning I was so inspired by those words.
Thank you for that Tine, but also for sending me some breathtaking photographs to use for what I think is one of my better creations.

I really loved combining our two crafts to create this wonderful production I call….”Ashley’s Dream”

A Tribute to Uncle Billy……

July 31st, 2008 - 3:34pm | by Matt Pine

If you think about it: the day of your wedding is probably the only time everyone (aunts, uncles and cousins) on both sides of your families will be in one place. Events will occur, toasts will be made, people will laugh and be happy in one location. You’ll also meet some new and wonderful people one time that you will never want to forget, they’re just one of a kind.
I received a phone call 2 weeks ago from one of my favorite couples, Mark & Genine Fallon. Genine told me the sad news that Mark’s dear Uncle Billy had passed away July 10th. This gentleman was one of the hightlights from their wedding in December of 2005 at the Hall of Mirrors. She asked me to put together a few clips from that evening to remember him by.

This ones for you Uncle Billy…….a one of a kind:)

Sunset in Dayton

July 27th, 2008 - 6:22pm | by Matt Pine

Dean and Melissa,

I thought you might like ANOTHER quick preview before I give you this incredible production this week!!!
I’ll be calling soon:)

Dean and Melissa’s movie trailer can be found 2nd one down in our “Screening Room” at
CincinnatiBride.com

Now a little bit more about this wonderful couple and the quick sunset photo shoot:

Dean and Melissa’s celebration took place May 31st at the Dayton Country Club
Ace photographer and pal Joe from Steve Lyons Photography and I noticed this awesome sunset right before their first dance. “Give us 10 minutes” I told my good friend Ryan Schwartz from Music by Request, DJ Butlers

In less than 7 minutes before the sunset I got some great moments and put this really quick music video together.

One more thing and this can MAKE or BREAK your wedding: The really GREAT photographers in Cincinnati (I have a few of my favs listed here) work hand in hand with your videographer. We’re both there working for you the bride. It’s SO very important that your videographer and photographer have some kind of communication prior to your wedding if they don’t know one another. Then on your big day we’re all introduced.

So then you can have us do the photo shoot with you and get really cool results,

like this….

Natalie & Ryan, not EVERYTHING went wrong…

July 25th, 2008 - 11:13pm | by Dan Shallenberger

This was a really, really fun wedding! I enjoy myself greatly at all my weddings, but seeing how lighthearted and positive you both were in the midst of all the mishaps that happened on your special day made it even more fun that usual for me. And seeing how close you both were… how you touched and looked at each other all day, the way you both spoke your vows with such meaning and conviction, and how Ryan reassured you during the mishaps… anyone could see you were meant for each other.

Natalie, last time we talked on the phone, you were excited to see your video. Well, it’s completely finished, but in the meantime, I wanted to share a highlights video with you and Ryan. I wanted you to see that not everything went wrong by any means, and how absolutely beautiful your day turned out!

Enjoy…

Dan

Thank you Tricia:)

July 23rd, 2008 - 8:07pm | by Matt Pine

So, I’m at the Reds game last night and I ran into one of my most favorite brides ever. Tricia L. We had a great time catching up. I then realized she and her hubby had celebrated their one year anniversary just about a week ago. YAY!

People enter and leave our lives daily. Some have little if no effect, while other change our lives. Tricia is one of about 5 brides I have had the pleasure to work with who DID change me and my business for the better. I honestly had been doing what 90% of the other videographers were doing (using the same shots, same effects ect. blah blah blah). Still had that cool “heart effect” in the opening, YES, I was a little cheesy, I admit it. Our stuff was above average I thought. We were booking more than anyone else in Cincinnati at the time and couples were happy, but I was bored.

About 6 months prior to Tricia’s wedding, I had started to come out of my shell and take more chances in editing with different filters and shooting styles. My partner Dan was also really pushing me, because his stuff was getting more polished and I was really learning from him.
On our last detail meeting the Monday before her wedding, I asked Tricia about what music she liked and what all she wanted shot that day. “Be creative Matt, your an artist from what I’ve seen, so surprise me” she answered.

The following Hightlight Reel was a gift to Tricia. It was not part of her package and I did not charge her for it. It was my way of saying thanks to someone who paid me a kind word and let me be free to work the way I wanted. She told me later this was her favorite part of the whole production, it’s mine too.

I did thank you again Tricia last night at the game, but I will do it again here on the blog.
Thank you Tricia, you rock:)

Happy anniversary to you and Brian.

enjoy,

Matt

“That sounds like a fairy tale….”

July 17th, 2008 - 8:14pm | by Matt Pine

The greatest part of my job is working with people on the best day life has to offer. Since 1991 I am so proud to say we have produced over 2500 weddings and I have met some of the most wonderful families. Each client has had their own story and while some of you might laugh, I consider myself and my partners here at Lifetime “Storytellers”.
You and every person on this planet has a story.

This brings me to a FANTASTIC story or maybe even a fairy tale:

I cannot thank Joyce Smith with Weddings Unlimited enough for introducing me to the Clinton and Reed families. They have planned a wedding for August 9, 2008 and booked us for not only for the wedding, but to tell the story of this wonderful couple. How they met and (last December) got engaged is quite a story:

Both Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Clinton have been good friends and co-workers since 1972. Their children even went to the same schools, but “their paths never crossed”. Two years ago these two mothers played “matchmaker” and the two dear friends will become in-laws in less than a month.

I was going to title this post “Always listen to your mother”, but I thought the fairy tale theme worked better, as you’ll see.

The following clip is a “Trailer” of the full production which will be shown at their reception.

It could also be used as a SAVE-THE-DATE video too guys???

enjoy,
MP

P.S. Thanks Carson for the tip on contrast, you’re a peach:)
